Our APA accredited program serves as a model of rural internship development, with a focus on the population and culture of eastern Kentucky.
Since 2011, we’ve graduated 3 psychologists per year who are trauma-informed, adept at interpersonal and professional relationships, skilled at implementing evidence-based practices and taking contextual factors into consideration when assessing outcomes, knowledgeable in the cutting-edge practices of technology/telehealth, and culturally responsive and sensitive to issues of diversity.
Interns in our program provide services in a variety of different settings throughout the training year, creating many opportunities to explore diversity in the human experience. At our primary site, the Perry Outpatient Clinic in Hazard, we serve people with high needs encompassing a wide range of backgrounds with respect to age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, etc.
